Merchant Center Price and Availability Mismatch: What to Check First

A practical checklist for diagnosing price and availability mismatches between your storefront, feed source, and Merchant Center processing.

Find out which system is actually wrong

A mismatch warning does not always mean the feed is wrong. Sometimes the storefront updated first, sometimes the feed source updated first, and sometimes a crawl delay created the gap.

You need the source of truth before you can fix the issue reliably.

  • Compare the live product page to the submitted feed value
  • Review recent merchandising or sale-price changes
  • Check sync timing between systems

Review sale logic and inventory logic together

Price mismatches often appear around sales, bundles, regional pricing, or apps that modify checkout behavior. Availability mismatches often follow inventory timing, preorders, or feed rules that lag behind stock updates.

Treat the price and stock pipeline as one audit surface.

  • Check compare-at and sale price windows
  • Review variant-level inventory behavior
  • Confirm backorder and preorder messaging matches the feed

Validate the product page experience

If the live page hides the final price, delays availability messaging, or changes the product variant by default, Google may read a different value than you expect.

The issue is not always buried in feed rules. Sometimes it is a page-rendering problem.

  • Review the default selected variant
  • Check mobile and desktop product pages
  • Make sure the shopper-visible value is unambiguous

Keep proof when the issue is fixed

Price and availability mismatches can recur. Capture what changed and how it was validated so the team can respond faster if the issue comes back.

That is especially valuable for agencies working across many catalogs.

  • Screenshot the corrected page state
  • Note the system or rule that was changed
  • Watch for repeat errors after the next sync

Monitor mismatch risk before it scales across the catalog
